Rip Van Winkle is certainly one of our favorite campgrounds within reasonable driving distance from NYC. Brian and his family have created a place that we will be forever grateful to spend our days camping. We will continue to come back again and again and each year we look forward to seeing how they have made it even better from the last. I really cannot express how happy we are with this campground EVERY time. We have a 40ft fifth wheel and yes, you need to pay attention when driving through the grounds but it is doable and the sites are more than big enough to accommodate our rig. We love the wooded sites and natural habitat that has been left to be enjoyed. The campground is clean and well maintained. Recently, the owners went above and beyond to help us when needing a last minute rental. Swimming holes, multiple playgrounds, RC track, fishing, outside movies, and a whole lot more fun to be discovered every visit. There are so many different things to explore.

This family owned campground accommodates our family of four and is pet friendly. This is hands down our favorite campground to come to in the tristate area. They were just doing their job.nnWe're still on site preparing to leave, but instead of spending the next few hours patronizing the local businesses, we will be traveling to our next destination. We would have literally spent hundreds of dollars in the local restaurants and shops over that few hours.nnIn fairness to the management, I tried to discuss this at the front counter but could not get past the young ladies. We understand rules are rules, but that decision seems a little short-sighted. I was quite surprised when we were told that they would not accommodate that request (the park is at least 50% vacant at this time of year).nnWe are not anger upset with this. The area is not conducive to dragging/parking a travel trailer through the historic downtown. I went to the front office and asked if we could leave our travel trailer in their storage yard for a few hours (we offered to pay a fee of desired?) so that we could do said exploring. We were passing through on a one-night stay and decided we would like to spend a few hours exploring the area. Very nice campground.nLarge sites, plenty of trees, and fire rings.nFacility well-maintained.nnHowever we had an interesting experience.nWe are an older couple traveling with our two dogs and a small travel trailer.
